BMI AND YOUR BACK
One more reason to keep your BMI in normal range… Degenerative disk studies reveal that those with the highest BMI (Body Mass Index) have quicker and more serious disk degeneration, probably due to increased workload on the disk, and overall systemic inflammation created by fat cells. To maintain a healthy back (and joints throughout the body) keep your weight in optimal range for height and age.
SPLENDA NOT SO SPLENDED
Although Splenda (sucralose) is marketed as a superior sugar substitute for diabetics and dieters because of reduced caloric absorption, its drawbacks prove greater than its advertised benefits. Splenda is made by substituting two molecules from table sugar with chlorine, a known toxin in the body. It is 600 times sweeter than sugar, has multiple side effects, and studies show it may increase obesity, damage healthy gut flora, and interfere with drug absorption. Splenda was discovered accidentally while trying to produce insecticide – a convincing reason to avoid it. To maximize health, consider using small amounts of sugar or stevia when needed, and avoid sugar substitutes.
FIGHT HEAVY METALS
The Japanese often use the single-celled micro algae Chlorella to remove toxins, heavy metals (even mercury), and pollutants from the body. Chlorella is a powerful detoxification agent, binding to unwanted heavy metals while ignoring essential minerals like zinc, calcium and magnesium. Humans cannot digest Chlorella unless the cell wall has been cracked, so look for Broken Cell Wall Chlorella if interested in using it for detoxification. Start slowly and increase consumption with care not to overdo it. Eating cilantro at the same time may multiply detoxification effects synergistically.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE GRASS
Grass fed beef has 2 to 10 times more Omega-3 fatty acids than grain fed beef. It also has more CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), more vitamin E, more carotenoids, more B Vitamins, more CoQ10, and more Zinc. Grass is the natural food for cattle, and they are healthiest when consuming it. To maximize health, consume grass fed beef without hormones, antibiotics, or factory farm exposure as often as possible when choosing meat.
Everyone knows the considerable health risks associated with smoking (lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, death etc.) but only a smoker realizes how difficult the addiction is to stop. Studies show that most “quit-smoking aids” do not work as promised. E-Cigs cause damage to airways and are unregulated, nicotine patches and gum have less than a 50% success rate, and Chantix (drug) fails 80% of the time with horrendous side effects including bizarre behavior and suicide. To beat the smoking habit, quitting cold turkey is still the safest route.
